Award Winning Vienna Lager

Everyone is impressed with the flavor of Vienna Lager. The style Vienna lager is made specifically by the use of Vienna malts. Vienna malt gets its color and flavor by satisfying a very precise and narrow color range. It’s this roasting/kilning that result in the Vienna Lager’s unique flavor. Vienna malts are not caramelized, burnt nor charred but roasted at a higher temperature to a color just a bit darker than regular malt. The description and rating of the color of the roasting is described in lovibond or color units (a laboratory test that compares it to a standard color chart). This narrow range of color and roast results in a very unique, intense flavor. Chuckanut Brewery uses a large percentage of a high standard Vienna malt to make its award winning Vienna lager.

Hops do not necessarily add to the flavor or aroma but are used to help lighten the sweetness of the beer (hops are used to balance the flavors). Chuckanut Vienna Lager has a depth of flavor balanced by a light, crisp finish.

Chuckanut Brewery Vienna Lager has been chosen by the Great American Beer Festival to be highlighted in a special beer to food luncheon for credentialed journalist in Denver, CO at the end of September. Only10 award winning beers have been chosen to be paired with the special four course meal. We are honored to have one of our beers chosen for this fabulous luncheon. Chuckanut Vienna Lager will be offered with a Roasted Beet, Fennel, Green Apple & Chevre salad like the one we served at our Fall Beer Dinner in the Brewery last year.
